The 2024 CrossFit Games are behind us, but more information keeps being revealed about the tragedy that occurred. I do realize that lots of the information is second-hand, but so far it is not looking good for the organizers. I hope that this gets resolved quickly and does not blemish the name of CrossFit. Unfortunately many people think that CrossFit training and the Sport of CrossFit is the same. Fortunately, these are very different. If we all had to do the Sport of CrossFit our gym would be pretty empty. We use the CrossFit methodology to enhance our fitness and health.
The good news is there are 2 more events coming up that are very exciting to watch. The Rogue Invitational will be taking place November 8-10. This has always been a small, but amazing event. Rogue really knows how to put on a show. The programming is great, the coverage and commentary are top quality. The athlete pool is much smaller, but top quality. They will be hosting individual athletes, as well as some of the legends, and some Strongmen and Strongwomen.
Personally, I am excited for this years event. Mostly because of the legends series. These are some athletes that first inspired me when I got into CrossFit. One athlete in particular Mikko Salo from Finland was a pleasure to watch compete. He actually influenced the naming of my first child.
There is also the Wodapalooza in Florida coming up on Jan 23-26. This is a larger event, usually outdoors. This has a much bigger selection of competitors, including masters and teens. I love watching these events because they are one of the only major events that has an adaptive division. I have run events, years ago, for these athletes in Blue Mountain and it is always inspiring to watch these people compete. The true meaning of effort and sportsmanship.
