Well, the 2024 CrossFit Open is over for the majority of us. For the top 25% they will get an invite to the next step, which starts April 3 and involves 5 more workouts that must be done and verified on video. For those who are interested in taking the next step we will help you prepare and strategize for the workouts.
For the majority of us we get to go back to normal training. The CrossFit Open is a great opportunity to test where you are in your training. The workouts are beautifully designed, difficult to complete, and we have tons of data points to see how you compare to others who have done it. Remember your numbers. This can be used in the future to re-test to see how you progress in your training.
Our Saturdays are back to the fun Soul Crushers and our weekly programming will now progress into our regular training.
The energy and excitement at the gym over the last 3 weeks has been great to see. Seeing people cheer on and encourage each other to push a little harder and try something they haven't done before. Watching people step out of their comfort zone and try things like heavier weights, chest to bar pull ups, and bar muscle ups. Lets also not forget those double unders in week 2. Many people came to the realization that they greatly lacked the skill.
This is something we can work on. From now on you will have two choices when double unders come up. Either do double the amount of singles if you have no interest in double unders, of you will practice for the same time as reps of trying to do double unders. ie if there is 50 double unders you will practice for 50 seconds. The only secret with double unders is luck and practice.
Monday
A) Stiff-Legged Deadlift
4 Sets x 15-20 Reps
Rest 2-3 Minutes between sets
If your hip/hamstring mobility doesn't allow you to pull the barbell from the ground, use plates or crash mats to elevate the bar to the required height for you.
B) 3 Rounds:
20/15 Calorie Row or Bike
10 Hanging Knee Raise
20 Kettlebell Swings
80m Sandbag Carry
Time Cap: 15 Minutes
